Under the business club scheme, we inaugurated the MRDC Business club for Secondary Schools. This is our strategy for meeting the need of creating an environment that combines practical business and enterprise development lesson with the conventional educational programme so that children can imbibe the savings investment and business culture at an early stage. The MRDC Business Club for secondary schools is an outreach programme of Masterpiece Resource Development Centre (MRDC). It is aimed at building in the pupils the culture of savings, investment and enterprise so that they master these practices from an early age. The activities of the club are practical oriented and expose the children to the decision making processes involved in creating, managing and investing wealth.
This revolves around savings, investments and entrepreneurship. As at the end of 2008 the business club had been set up in two school: Grange and Dansol high school with more than 20 students of the senior classes in each school as members of the club. In July of 2008 a marketing plan competition was organized for the secondary schools in partnership with Green Circle Network Africa, marketers of Hitachi interactive white board. The competition required of the students to come up with a marketing pan to sell the white boards. In attendance at the competition were the proprietor of Dansol High School, teachers from the two schools, parents and representatives of Green Circle Africa. Grand emerged as the winner for the competition going home with an interactive white board.
