What We Do

DISCOVERY WORKSHOP
Statistics have it that 60 million Nigerian youths are unemployed. This does not come as a surprise to many of us who are used to seeing our youths roaming the streets looking for jobs that do not exist. Many who are employed are either underemployed or employed in occupations that they do not derive fulfillment from because their jobs do not match their passions, gifts or talents. Most of these youths find themselves in this undesirable situation because they lack an accurate knowledge of their purpose for living; they lack a clear direction of the right path to follow in life. At MRDC we believe that the first step towards leading a fulfilling existence is the discovery of PURPOSE.

OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
The Discovery Workshop is a one day intensive programme specially designed to help youths discover who they are and ensure that they develop a plan that will guide them through life. The programme also seeks to build participants' capacity to develop their gifts and talents for personal and national gain.

PROGRAM CONTENT
Our highly skilled and experienced facilitators take participants through the four Ps (Purpose, Passion, Pursuit and People) key to living a fulfilling life.
Interactive class with facilitators which encourages participants to make contributions based on self reflection, and also seek advice during the program.

DISCOVERY ON AIR
This is a radio program that brings to its audience the practicality of the entire enterprise development program on air. This is achieved fundamentality via an excursion through path taken by business owners who started small and have done well over the years.

ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
We at MRDC believe that entrepreneurship is a key driver of our economy. Wealth and a high majority of jobs are created by small businesses started by entrepreneurially minded individuals, many of whom go on to create big businesses. People exposed to entrepreneurship frequently express that they have more opportunity to exercise creative freedoms, higher self esteem, and an overall greater sense of control over their own lives.

As a result, many experienced business people political leaders, economists, and educators believe that fostering a robust entrepreneurial culture will maximize individual and collective economic and social success on a local, national, and global scale. It is with this in mind that we offer entrepreneurship training to individuals under the Entrepreneurship Development Programme. This is a five day intensive programme for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs specially designed to empower them with the requisites knowledge for success in business. Our revolutionary approach makes use of facilitators who are seasoned entrepreneurs in their own rights, having succeeded in spite of the odds against them. Topics in the curriculum include Business Strategy, Accounting, Law, Marketing, HR and Business Ethics.

In November 2007 some of the graduating students of the University of Lagos and Lagos Polytechnic, Isolo, LASPOTECH that had undergone the personal discovery program earlier in the year of 2007 were taken through the MRDC training program on developing the entrepreneurial spirit and skill. At Akure in the month of January, 2009 over 250 Youth Corp members serving in that city were taken through the Entrepreneurship training program as part of success in life.
