YEN-MRDC OBJECTIVES

  • To provide a forum or avenue for young entrepreneurs to articulate the common challenges facing them, and exchange ideas and possible solutions to these challenges.
  • To assist young business owners to expand their businesses and prosper.
  • To support youths with bright ideas to become entrepreneurs
  • To promote the development, competitiveness and the interests of young entrepreneurs and to provide facilities, services and representation to that end.
  • To lobby government, public and private institutions on issues bothering on the growth of businesses started by the young people.
  • To align YEN with other bodies or organizations with similar business at both a national and international level, and to leverage the relationships arising out of these alignment for the benefit of its members.
  • To raise three hundred (300) market leaders.

YEN-MRDC BENEFITS
  • E-Library - As a way of encouraging personal development among members, YEN would be providing access to a virtual library for use by members.
  • Training - Members would have continuous access to trainings on developing specific entrepreneurial skills at a subsidized rate.
  • E-Mentoring - With a growing need for business mentoring, we would be pooling mentors from different fields viz. accounting, insurance, banking, assets management and investing, business branding and so many others in order for us to help mitigate the challenges faced by members. Most of the mentors, we have found out, may not have the time for a physical contact with the mentees on a regular basis, but would be available to offer virtual mentoring so the need of creating the e-mentoring: internet enhanced mentoring.
  • Personal Page/URL and Personal Email - Registered members would have the opportunity of having a personalized website and e mail linked to the YEN portal, e.g. e-mail: idowu.abayomi@yen-mrdc.org or website: eventsplace@yen-mrdc.com
  • Investment Club - Investment clubbing is a way for members to learn about investing and assets management and for them to pool resources in order to take advantage of business and investment opportunities opening up each day.
  • Awards - Awards would be given to exceptional entrepreneurs amidst great fanfare and celebrations. The nomination of entrepreneurs for the awards will be based on stipulated criteria.
  • Microfinance - Since the majority of the network members would be start ups the service of a microfinance bank to help with micro finances would be required and a partnership with a microfinance bank is being arranged.
  • Network - The sole reason the group was founded. Members can connect other young entrepreneurs both physically and via the internet with an accrued advantage.
  • Insurance - In partnership with an insurance company we intend to provide insurance services and counseling to members. The importance of insurance to businesses has, over the years, been underestimated and misunderstood, and we intend bringing clarity to this aspect of business growth.
  • Legal Service - We envisage the possibilities of members to be involved in lawsuits and require legal advice. Asides this every business outfit would require the good guidance of a legal adviser less they fall on the wrong side of the law and for proper interpretation of government policies when issued.
  • Email Newsletter - All registered members would have this service provided to them on a regular basis which would be a means of updating them on the current trend in the world of business on important topics like finance, imports and exports trends, human capital development etc.
  • Special offers - Opportunity for members to buy desired goods or access services at subsidized rates, e.g. laptops worth over 100,000 can be purchased lower than the price from yen partners

Activities of YEN
Facilitating capacity building and training:
a.) Monthly Meetings
     i. For Aspiring Entrepreneurs
     ii. For Established Entrepreneurs (Business Growth)

b.) Workshops
Our workshop would bother on
   1. Personal Development
   2. Various business functions,
   3. Specific industries (Industrial or Sectoral Groups that consists of members who have the same or       common interest, which may be industrial or professional).

c.) YEN Annual Conference - The Young Entrepreneurs' Conference would be held on a yearly basis facilitated by reputable local or international business men and women.

d.) On-Site Visitations.

YEN Membership
Membership of the Network shall comprise of individuals owning or managing enterprise as part of generating profit, thus contributing towards growing the economy, and anyone who aspires to start their own business that, currently, is engaged in or connected with any industry, trade, business or profession in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
i. Foundation Members: these are members who are aspiring to be entrepreneurs or start a business    soonest.
ii. Premium Members: these are members who are already in business.

ADMISSION OF MEMBERS
Any person eligible to become a member of the Network shall submit his/her application for membership in the prescribed form together with the appropriate fee, as required for the category. Upon receipt of the application, the Coordinating Secretary of the Network shall verify the claims made by the applicant and if found suitable shall recommend the candidature to the Steering Committee. If the Network is satisfied that the applicant is fit and proper to become a member of the Network, it may approve the application for membership. Upon such approval the applicant's name shall be entered in the register of members of the Network.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
Foundation Members of YEN
This category of membership is open to individuals owning or managing enterprises and anyone who aspires to start their own business that, currently, is engaged in or connected with any industry, trade, business or profession in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Members in this category would not be expected to pay any subscription fee, hence membership is free. Access to membership benefits are limited and most of the time fee based. Interested parties can become a foundation member of YEN by completing a membership registration form. A membership file would be opened and a membership number issued.

CRITERIA
Registration for this membership category will be made with

  • 2 Passport photographs
  • Letter of Application
  • Fully filled membership registration form @ N2, 000

  • YEN MEMEBRSHIP POINTS
    Points can be obtained by members as way of progression to the next level of membership. The membership points are only applicable to members from the associate membership upward.

    Membership Points for Associate members to Become a Fellow of YEN
    To be eligible to migrate from associate membership to a Fellow of YEN, members should, asides the monthly subscription; a member must
    1. have acquired up to 20 points

    2. have attended a formal training on starting a business or growing a business either organized by MRDC or any recognized organization that offer such service

    3. have volunteered at the community development level
       a) MRDC business club for Secondary Schools
       b) SAVE Nigeria initiative
       c) EnvironYEN

    4. Mentored at least 10 entrepreneurs by
       - Sponsoring them to the Enterprise Development Program
       - or to the Monthly workshop and Seminar

ASSOCIATE MEMBER OF YEN (AMYEN)
This category of membership is also open to individuals owning or managing enterprise as part of generating profit and anyone who aspires to start their own business that, currently, is engaged in or connected with any industry, trade, business or profession in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and would like to access the various benefits available to this level of membership.

Interested parties can become an associate member by completing a membership registration form accompanied by an annual subscription of N10, 000. A membership card will be issued and this entitles the members to various benefits. Payment can be done by installment with a spread of not more two months between the initial installments.

BENEFITS
1. Attend 4 of the specialized monthly workshops bothering on pertinent entrepreneurial topics and national issues affecting enterprise development facilitated by seasoned professionals free.
2. Enterprise Development Program would be highly subsidized. Up to 50% discount on trainings would be accessed
3. Attend networking programs at a subsidized fee
4. Free access to network's database for marketing purpose

CRITERIA
1. Proof of registration of business or business name
2. Business' location
3. Two reference letters from any reputable business owners
4. Copy of the intending member's business card
5. Business' bank account number
6. Two passport photographs
7. Fully filled membership registration form
